Rik Mol (20) was born in Holland and started to play the trumpet at the age of 8. He was classically trained with teachers such as Huug Stoketee and took masterclasses of Theo Mertens and Maurice André. He also played solo with the famous Belgium Brass Soloist at the age of 10.
In his early teens being still in high school (Havo for Music Conservatory The Hague) he got interseted in jazzmusic due to a meeting and several lessons by Wynton Marsalis in 1998. At the same time his dutch teachers were Jarmo Hoogendijk and Eric Vloeimans. In these days he also founded the jazzcollective Misty together with some fellow students. They experimented a lot with jazz, latin and funk. This resulted in their first cd. Rik is often featured as a special guest in orchestras, bandtours and did several tv performances. Avro television made a documentary about him as a student of the conservatory of the Hague.
At the age of 16 Rik immediately is admitted to the jazzdepartment of Amsterdam Conservatory, where he finished his first recital with two A's.
At the moment Rik works with a lot in different scenes; with DJ's, and plays as a freelance trumpetplayer with a lot of top jazz and pop acts in Holland such as Trijntje Oosterhuis and Candy Dulfer. At the moment Rik studies with Till Brönner in Berlin.
